Select Holiday Curricula in Keshet: Rosh HaShanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkot, and Pesach

The curriculum emphasizes the social values embodied in the Jewish holidays, links the holidays to the way of life in Israel with all its customs – religious, secular, and traditional – and includes relevant Israeli and Hebrew literature and artwork. It enriches students with the universal values of the holidays, such as family, freedom, and equality.

We have developed a spiral curriculum in which students repeat the study of holidays at different grade levels, each time at a higher level of difficulty, in greater depth, with a different focus. Students are exposed to different points of view regarding each holiday, with the specific focus listed below by grade:

  • Kindergarten and Grade 1 – "Who Am I?"
  • Grade 2 – My Family
  • Grade 3 – My Community
  • Grade 4 – Jerusalem
  • Grade 5 – The Jewish People
  • Grade 6 – The World
