The growing Keshet School at Mazkeret Batya was founded in 2006 by the strong local community with the support of The Keshet Association. In 2011 the school has 2 kindergartens, 2 classes at each grade level from first through third grade, one fourth and one fifth grade class.
“Keshet” means “a rainbow” in Hebrew, and this founding concept promotes a rainbow of Jewish and Israeli cultural expression. The Keshet model of education encourages both students and staff to express and identify themselves in a variety of ways, with confidence and pride. In the Keshet combined educational framework, students are exposed to a variety of Jewish life styles – from full traditional commitment to Halacha to viewing Judaism as a humanistic culture. This experience is accompanied by an understanding of each one's narrative and basic concepts. Our ultimate goal is to establish an educational environment, based on dialogue that respects each student's Jewish identity.
In Keshet Mazkeret Batya we have approximately one third religious and two thirds secular students in each grade, but the staff is still composed of a secular homeroom teacher and a religious homeroom teacher for each grade, both of whom play important role models for the students.
