Keshet track at the Even-Hen Public School

In 2011 The Keshet Association opened a Keshet Kindergarten in Shoham and a first grade class at the Even-Hen Mamlachti School (a secular public school).

“Keshet” means “a rainbow” in Hebrew, and this founding concept promotes a rainbow of Jewish and Israeli cultural expression. The Keshet model of education encourages both students and staff to express and identify themselves in a variety of ways, with confidence and pride. In the Keshet combined educational framework, students are exposed to a variety of Jewish life styles – from full traditional commitment to Halacha to viewing Judaism as a humanistic culture. This experience is accompanied by an understanding of each one's narrative and basic concepts. Our ultimate goal is to establish an educational environment, based on dialogue that respects each student's Jewish identity.

In each of the classes we have approximately one third religious and two thirds secular students in each grade, but the staff is still composed of a secular homeroom teacher and a religious homeroom teacher for each grade, both of whom play important role models for the students.

The Even Hen School has welcomed Keshet with open arms and a lively collaboration.
