We like to summarize the Keshet model of education in three simple words: knowledge, respect and dialogue. The Keshet Association brings together students, families and teachers from diverse backgrounds within Judaism, in order to create a Humanistic- Israeli-Jewish culture based on shared values and pluralism. We work towards our goal by creating schools adhering to these principles.
The Keshet schools teach knowledge of Judaism in its widest definition, for knowledge of oneself and of others. It promotes social and academic dialogue, where what we share, and what makes each of us unique, are equally nurtured. We work to achieve these goals by educating for compassion, respect and solidarity.
Keshet – a Rainbow of Israeli-Jewish Culture
The Keshet Association was founded in 1995 along with the first Keshet School in Jerusalem, where religious and secular students study together. In our powerful model of education, individual and shared values and traditions are all nurtured. The Keshet Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to the development and enhancement of a collective Jewish culture that is based on dialogue. We are creating curricula and full-school programs with common ground for religious and secular children and their families.
About
Educating by and for dialogue
At Keshet, students encounter the “real world” beginning in Kindergarten. Throughout their school years, they experience a world of choices in their learning environment - a world with a wide range of thoughts and views, a world filled with people holding different opinions, a world where dialogue is the basis for a healthy society. Keshet’s educational philosophy prepares students for life by giving them a deep and meaningful understanding of a rich and varied Judaism.

Distinctive Curricula
A unifying component in a reality of separation
Keshet operates within an Israeli educational environment where religious and secular students learn in separate state schools. The Keshet model encourages students and staff to express themselves in a variety of authentic ways, consistent with their true identities. Keshet means “a rainbow” in Hebrew, and our founding concept promotes a rainbow of Jewish and Israeli cultural expression with respectful dialogue. In the Keshet combined educational framework, students are exposed to a variety of ways to express their Judaism – from full traditional commitment to Halacha to viewing Judaism as a humanistic culture. This experience is accompanied by an understanding of each one's narrative and basic concepts.

The Keshet Association (NPO)
The Keshet Association brings together students, families and teachers from diverse backgrounds within Judaism to create a humanistic- Israeli-Jewish culture based on shared values and respect for differences. We work to achieve our goals by creating and supporting schools that adhere to our core principles. The Association supports the 'Keshet' schools by developing curricula which present a broad spectrum of opinions and views in Jewish culture. We offer pre-service and in-service teacher training with seminars at our schools. We also offer training for young teachers studying at the prestigious David Yellin Teachers’ College in Jerusalem.
